Registered Nurse

POSITION OVERVIEW
<\/h2>

Orange County Public Schools is seeking compassionate, skilled Registered Nurses (RNs)<\/b> to provide direct nursing care, health education, and emergency response in a dynamic school environment. Nurses work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, parents, and community health partners to promote student wellness, manage chronic conditions, and ensure a safe learning environment.
<\/p>

KEY RESPONSIBATILITIES
<\/h2>

Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and OCPS protocols.
<\/li>

Perform health screenings (vision, hearing, scoliosis, BMI) as required by Florida statutes.
<\/li>

Maintain accurate, confidential health records in compliance with FERPA and HIPAA.
<\/li>

Respond to medical emergencies; initiate CPR\/AED and first aid as needed.
<\/li>

Monitor and manage students with chronic conditions (diabetes, asthma, seizures, allergies).
<\/li>

Develop and update Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs).<\/b>
<\/li>

Implement IHPs and 504 accommodations.
<\/li>

Conduct health education for students, staff, and parents (handwashing, puberty, nutrition).
<\/li>

Track immunizations and ensure compliance with Florida Certificate of Immunization (DH 680).
<\/li>

Collaborate with school staff to identify and refer students with health concerns.
<\/li>

Participate in IEP\/504 meetings when health input is required.
<\/li>

Assist with infection control (head lice, flu outbreaks, COVID protocols).
<\/li>

Supervise LPNs and unlicensed assistive personnel (UAPs)<\/b> in delegated tasks.
<\/li>

Perform nursing assessments and triage complex cases.<\/b>
<\/li>

Train staff on epinephrine auto\-injectors, glucagon, and seizure protocols.<\/b>
<\/li>

Serve as case manager for medically fragile students.<\/b>
<\/li>

Lead health\-related professional development for school staff.<\/b>
<\/li>

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
<\/h2>

License:<\/b> Current Florida RN license (or compact state)
<\/li>

Certification:<\/b> CPR\/AED (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
<\/li>

Experience:<\/b> 1+ year clinical or pediatric nursing preferred
<\/li>

Background:<\/b> Level 2 fingerprint clearance (FDLE\/FBI)
<\/li>

Other:<\/b> With OCPS Badge \/ willing to obtain OCPS badge
<\/li>
